Don’t be afraid to buy this pressing, you will definitely enjoy it. As long as you have a good stereo. I think the negative reviews are due to poor equipment, for sure cuz it sounds amazing on my very picky setup! If there was any problem with this pressing, I would definitely know it! My turntable and speakers are very unforgiving!!

The overall quality of the pressing is decent - no noticeable cracks or pops. But the music was lacking in definition. I don''t know if it was due to the remastering or if it was pressed from a digital source, but it just lacked punch. In addition, Planet Caravan is a total mess on this pressing. It''s super quiet and muddled. HUGE disappointment.

Do yourself a favor and try to track down the Rhino 2006 (180g) pressing. SOOO Much better. You might even be able to do better than that pressing, but probably not for the price. And for Planet Caravan, sounds amazing as it should!

This CD is a high quality reproduction of this classical work by Black Sabbath. It is very well reproduced, although it is not a SACD. Amazon has, at the time I write here, a very tempting offer: you purchase the cd and you can download a digital mp3 high quality reproduction, all for the price of even less than the cd alone. The music seems more clear than the old LP version, which was the version I first heard in 1972. Black Sabbath is a rock music classic group, and their place in the history of rock music is influential. You can hear the group here in a very well musical reproduction, just hear by yourself.

This 2nd. delivery by the Heavy Metal founders, as I thought is after the Masterpiece that represented the self-titled debut Album, the logic extension based on the experienced way which follow the Band, over its own footsteps, based on the Iommy creative riffs, and imagination, the powerful Butler bass rhythm attack together and along with Ward’s powerful rhythm as well, merged altogether... and of course, the very most known work of the Band among works in the Ozzy-Era of Sabbath. As a logical consequence it launched BLACK SABBATH on the early 70’s to Fame, for sure it was!!.
The master-piece in its Super De Luxe Edition something for Collectors... just GREAT!
The super fine renewed quality of Vol.4 and all the extras for the Vinly collectors offers a variety of recording sessions, plus a Live perormances of DSabbath in the VOL.4 Tour then, which was unknow for the general audience, what a perfect Gift for our ears!
I honestly just LOVE IT!

Listened to this over many years, still has that same rumbling, crashing (yeah I know the album has the mellower Laguna Sunrise that doesn''t seem to fit w/the rest of the tracks) powerful drums, bass, already legendary Toni Iomi guitar licks & we all know Ozzy Ozbourne is a one of a kind singer/vocalist, not much known at the time. The harmonica in the previous debut album made me want to learn to play harmonica. This w/an anti-war song at that time in US history, for those would damn them for their name & wearing religiously symbolic jewelry. (they should really listen to some of the pro-salvation tracks on the following Masters of Reality) the first I ever heard anti-all kinds of recreotional drugs song not sparing the many different types available on the streets. Parinoid & Iorn Man were/are instant metal classics.

Although this album lacks the Vertigo swirling label it more than makes up in sound.

The sleeve and graphics are printed great.

Don''t pay big bucks buying a used vinyl early pressing of this album. The sound is greatly improved and punchier than any vinyl version I have heard.

The remastered CD has slightly better sound and punch than this LP. But if you love vinyl go for it.

I think this is the first time the beloved English children''s story "The Iron Giant" was put to music. Pete Townshend and a couple of others also took on the myth. But Black Sabbath were first.

This record is Black Sabbaths second in their discography which came out very quickly after their first, and it is considered one of the best Hard Rock/Metal albums of all time for good reason. The music on this album is of a very high standard and the songs in general are very recognisable as soon as they play such as Paranoid, Electric Funeral and Fairies Wear Boots. In fact, almost every song on this album is rather iconic. This album really paved the way for the future of Hard Rock and Metal music and it has to be respected. Paranoid is Black Sabbaths biggest song and has a been an anthem since it came out and captures the band’s sound perfectly. So much has already been said about music on album, so what about the CD package itself? The CD package is in a digipack style sleeve case which looks more sophisticated than a regular generic plastic CD case and still comes with the original artwork. Inside the case there are images of the band to the left of the case and underneath the CD, the track list and the original design on the CD. The booklet is much better than you would expect and has a lot to read inside about the history of Paranoid and the band from that time onward. There’s also a lot of artwork inside for various singles and different versions of releases. Overall, one of the best early Hard Rock/Metal albums of all time which is worth owning on physical format. Would recommend!

Whist Black Sabbath just can not be denied the adulation they deserve as pioneers and producers of rock/metal at its best, Paranoid has to be their greatest work. Sure they''ve done loads of brilliant stuff but Paranoid is an album where every track is simply awesome, it''s all lean, not a speck of aural fat to be heard. So much has been written and said about Paranoid, what could I add? The reason for my review is to do with the fact that there are a lot of cd versions knocking about, some a bit on the dodgy side, the version I have is 2004 Sanctuary Records Group Ltd. SMRCD032. Now I''m no sound engineer but I know what I like and this version sounds fantastic, the music is sharp, crisp and it rocks, Ozzy''s vocals are clear and where they should be in the mix. Like the original album there are 8 tracks, no extras and that suits me fine, perfect, the way it was meant to be. After some of the muddy versions I''ve come across I would recommend you know the version you intend to buy, this one''s a corker.

Sabbath strap on their very heaviest boots of lead and proceed to fill their victims full of dread for 42 minutes or so on what is, arguably, their best album. It''s definitely the best one that doesn''t have the word ''Sabbath'' in the title, I think. Apart from the turgid jazz odyssey of Planet Caravan, there isn''t a song here that is less than brilliant, and the remastering seems absolutely spot on to me. I don''t think even the most tedious audiophile bore could complain that it is possible to mix Sabbath ''too loud''.
