Impossible to find in hardware stores, but needed for many RVs. Like several other people have had happen to them, one of the propane hoses that came with my RV started to leak (a 2012 Keystone Vantage). This, combined with the Mr. Heater 18-inch Propane Hose Assembly with Acme Nut and a 1/4'''' inverted Male flare, worked perfectly!

When you look at where your hoses connect to your regulator, do you see two nuts or one? If two, you''re going to need to order this when you order the replacement hoses.

This has the spring loaded, nylon insert on the other side (the side that will connect to your regulator). If you look at your existing equipment, you should see a white, nylon insert inside. This is a valve to prevent backflow.

Just received and it and wanted to clear one thing up that I didn''t know before hand and MAY be VERY important to other users. Nowhere on the manufacturers site, here or on the package does it state this: The fitting has a 1-way, spring loaded valve! This valve works in the direction of the 1/4" female inverted flare towards the 1/4" male npt. Having never, fully, worked with a lot of propane hoses, fittings, etc I was stunned to see that "1/4" female inverted flare" is much smaller thread than ''1/4" male NPT''. In short, flare is vastly different than npt.

Back to my use. I had intended to install a Female - Female Bulkhead fitting on a specialty trailer to pass the propane thru the metal deck rathter than using a ''leak tight'' rubber sealing type fitting that just passes the hose thru the deck. In my installation, a regulator can''t be used since the end-use appliance is self-regulated. Basically, I am using a larger tank to feed two small appliances that normally use the 1# disposable bottles. I wanted the bulkhead fitting to be a strain relief by the tank, etc. In my intended use, I would have used TWO of these "1/4" Male NPT x 1/4" Female Inverted Flare fittings in opposite directions ... won''t work since they are one-way fittings.

Hope this little info saves others from this missing information.

If you have an older Marshall propane switch over valve on your RV that has 1/4" NPT fittings, and you decide to buy new hoses, you need this. Most new valves have gone to an Inverted Flare type connection. So unless you can find old stock, or you go to a custom hose fabrication shop, you''ll end up needing a couple of these. And most hardware stores do not have these in stock.

I needed to fit a new 200,000 BTU Camco propane hose to an existing two-stage regulator but the regulator has a 1/4" Female NPT inlet. Lowes as no-go for finding the right brass fittings (I should have known better than to waste my time looking!) so I went back to Amazon (PRIME!) and ordered it with free two-day shipping. Done. Installed. Works. No leaks.

It isn''t cheap ($7 for a little tiny brass adapter) but it gets the job done. Simple.

    Highly recommended.

The video that comes with this item is helpful but not totally accurate as not all auto changeover regulators have inverted flare fittings. My trailer has an auto changeover regulator that has NPT fittings. When the original pigtails needed replacing I found it very confusing to determine what kind of fittings the regulator needed. The fitting on the original pigtails measured 1/2” outside diameter but is defined as a 1/4” NPT fitting. So you need this propane fitting to allow connection to the commonly available Camco pigtails. The threads on the male NPT side should be wrapped with yellow gas line seal tape when installed (nothing on the inverted flare side)
