Can you answer Lisa’s question about ADHD?:

I’ve suspected my daughter has had ADHD since she was 3. She can’t seem to sit still and is always on the go. When other kids sit calmly, she just doesn’t seem to be able to. She is 5 now and in school. I’d like to have her tested for ADHD. How do I go about this? Do I take her to her regular doctor to get this started?

Do Adhd Natural Cures Work ? Some Guidelines for Parents

If you work for a large drug company, do not read this article ! We are on high alert as regards prescribing psychotic and psychostimulant drugs for children with ADHD. Parents are now able to make informed choices for their children and many are investigating ADHD natural cures. I can see why ! The Director of the International Center for the Study of Psychiatry and Psychlogy was recently quoted as saying that he routinely sees NORMAL children on up to five psychiatric drugs!

As well as the long list of awful side effects of these ADHD medications ( suppression of appetite, possible cardio problems, mood swings - just to name a few), we are now told that the long term effects of these drugs is just not known. I think that is why an increasing number of parents are treating ADHD naturally.

We are looking for herbal ingredients which will perform the same function as the psychostimulants, that is, they will stimulate the brain in a focused way, reduce hyperactivity and give the child a feeling of serenity and tranquillity.

Let me give you an example of just one which you may have heard of. Gingko biloba is well known as a supplement which can help the nervous system. It acts by increasing blood supply for the brain- that leads to stimulation and that in turns helps the child to focus. That is one of the major problems with hyperactivity - the child is unable to focus. It thus increases the brain’s efficiency and slows down general wear and tear of the brain.

Another great herbal remedy is the one called Brahmi. Not only does it help in increasing concentration and aiding learning, it has another great advantage in acting as a protective shield against the free radicals in the brain.

There is also another herb called Gotu Kola - this is great for lowering levels of anxiety and it also has been shown to be beneficial for circulation of blood to the brain. This has been prescribed to prevent Alzheimer’s although experiments are on-going. However in one trial, participants were given doses for a three month period and there was a great improvement in both attention spans and concentration. The herb is well tolerated and there are no known side effects. Many of the other herbs used are useful in inducing a calming sedative effect ( but not sleepiness) while stimulating the brain function.

Would you like to find out what the other herbal ingredients are in treating ADHD naturally and what effects they have over the short and long term ? Click on the link below to find out more and to be better informed about ADHD natural cures.

Can ADHD present itself in a kid in three days during and after a major change?

Can you answer CrazyChick’s question about ADHD?:

In the past three days, since my four-year-old changed classes in his daycare twice in two weeks, he’s been getting in trouble for not minding the teacher and just generally being difficult. So they moved him back to the three-year-old room when the afternoon teacher was having trouble with him. When I called to complain about him being sent BACK to the younger class, the woman I spoke to in the office (not the teacher, she had already left) suggested “maybe it’s his ADHD…..”

He’s never been diagnosed with ADHD, and he’s never had discipline problems other than the occasional time-out, in any of his classes, or at home. And he minds the morning teacher.

I think the problem stems from him not handling change well (never has) and being shuffled from class to class in a very short time, and every move makes it worse.

Even if he’s never shown signs of it before, and it’s been only three days, is it something that can be brought on by circumstances, or just naturally?
Thanks everyone. We had a conference with the morning teacher (he behaves pretty well for), two former teachers (who were more than happy to testify that with a few exceptions, usually around major changes, he never had behavioral issues) and the office worker I spoke with. All three teachers said they think that afternoon teacher is possibly in over her head, and that even if he DID have ADHD, part of the package of working with children is to deal with that and provide them an education as well. They also pointed out that ALL of the kids are acting unusual right now, because of the change of class and routine, by being moody, regressing in potty-training, or acting out.

Long story not so short, they’re going to call me if there are more issues, and that teacher is NOT to single him out and hold him back like that again.
